E Co 4/12 Infantry, 1989

In 1989, Captain Joe Southcott took command of the battalion anti-armor company. He had already spent a few years as a Paddy's Gang 1LT before the redesignation, including a spell as the Scout Platoon Leader.

I don't remember him assuming command directly from Captain Ray Nagy (see comments on E Co 1/39 Inf) but if someone else had the company in between the two then memory fails me.

In any case, Captain Southcott was definitely CO of E Co 4/12 Inf toward the end of 1989.

Until recently -- perhaps even now -- LTC Southcott was CO of 1/9 Inf (M) over in Iraq. There's a relevant news article over at the 9th Infantry Association site ("The 9th Regiment In Iraq").

What is the history of 4-12 deployement in Iraq or Afganistan?

Ed,

To the best of my knowledge, 4/12 Infantry is presently inactivated. I understand that the studs in 1/12 Inf and 2/12 Inf have been through Iraq, though.

Cheers

Matt
